The commode - changing station

Dear little soul

I think we're there with your room! The changing table is sorted, the bits and pieces like nappies and cotton balls have been stocked up, and the bath(s) have been put in place.

In practicality, we may end up changing you on the bed or the floor or wherever suits us, but it seemed nice to be able to use existing furniture and then modify it for your use. We made this frame on top of a chest of drawers and then put this lovely changing mat on top of it, given thoughtfully to us by your Nanna and Pop in Australia. Every time we all use it we'll think of them!

The bath and stand were given to us, and I invested in an additional "Tummy Tub" (well, not the original, a rip-off, but does the same job). A strange bucket-shaped bath which I'm game now to try. In the beginning I thought - I'm not putting our baby in a bucket! But the water stays warm for up to 15 minutes, you will be completely immersed in warmth for the duration of your bath (no blue lips or shivering!) - like you are currently in the womb! - and it doesn't take so long to fill or empty. So there are tons of advantages to jumping on the Tummy Tub train.

love your Soul Mama

A repurposed Ikea shoe rack for nappies and wipes. The stork will watch over baby while s/he is changed.
These little white boxes hold Weleda baby care products - I lashed out and bought some online for 20% off! Thought we'd get some good organic stuff from the beginning, and then see how we go.
The sweet little mirror is a hand-me-down from the Soul sister-in-law. The special Quax changing cushion is made without any toxins and has a measuring feature on it so we can watch baby grow! But we have some cushion covers so baby doesn't get cold after a bath; all organic cotton.
A repurposed Ikea chest of drawers with an extra lid built on top for the changing mat. Drawers containing 'hydrofielluiers' - muslin nappies and other cotton pads/balls, facecloths and stuff
The newborn wardrobe is in the second drawer. So small!
Found this toy chest on wheels in our attic. It had an awful fabric cover; I have re-covered it with this lovely yellow and white stripe. Goes perfectly in the room!
Yes, it looks much like a bucket. The infamous Tummy Tub.
Where all the caring, bathing, changing and dressing will take place.
