Dear little soul
My good friend and surrogate sister over here in the lowlands advised me to get this book. It's really great - tasty, simple meals with excellent nutritional value and devised for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers who don't eat meat (or who might even be vegans). I haven't dedicated my entire diet to this book, but am aiming to eat meals out of it at least twice a week.
By writing to you regularly I can be reminded of how I should really look after my diet (more!) because I am making you grow! I want you to be healthy and fit when you come into the world, and it's my responsibility to make sure of that.
Hope you have been liking the variety of foods I've been sharing with you, love. This week we did a variation of the lentil shepherd's pie and instead of mash on the top, I served the filling next to buttery roasted potatoes. Mmmm (well, the butter probably wouldn't have been been advised, but you've got to live a little!)
Love your Soul Mama

I've had a few enquiries as to whether this book is any good. I have to say I've tried about 5 recipes so far, which is a good number for me (when it comes to greedily buying books). They're easy recipes and it's comforting to know that your body is being nutritionally fed while you're doing the miraculous job of growing and feeding another human being.
ReplyDeleteSo, Lenise, I'd say get it! You might already cook a lot of these things, but there are some nice breakfasts and lunch ideas (like eating a whole raw capsicum filled with herby cottage cheese which is really refreshing, actually!)
Bon apetit!
