One plus one equals three

Dear little soul

In the last year or so, I've decided to dive into my creative side - beyond writing and music, but into the illustrative arts. Now, who knows whether I have any real talent, but that's not what it's about. It's about the process.

Back in May last year, your Soul Papa and I went on a holiday to the Swiss Alps, a little sad that our hopes to start a family were going so slowly. I remember taking a long walk along the mountain trails and gathering a bunch of wild flowers. I pressed them and took them home, and then made these two portraits. For a while there, I thought it was just going to be a she and a he - no little one to make us a bigger family than a family of two.

The series is called "Nature Girl" and "Nature Boy". Neither are finished. I still need to finish them off, but the one of me is green and the one of your Soul Papa is blue. I'm the forest girl and he's the water boy. You know, I'm a Scorpio and therefore a water sign and Soul Papa is a Taurus and is actually an earth sign but because we have so much influenced the other, I reversed the elements. I put some bubbles around Papa to give him a feel for the sea, but there's a fair bit more to do.

I thought you'd like to have us with you in your room, when you arrive. Even in that time of sadness last you, missing you (although we'd not - and have not - officially met), I was able to keep my creativity going. I am hoping that in June I can finish these pieces off in time for your arrival. In the meantime, I'm working on some other canvases for an exhibition that's coming up in May, so I need to shift the order of things. I know you'll understand. The portraits will be on the wall by the time you arrive, never fear!

Thank you for being in our lives, little soul. You're the catalyst for so many beautiful wonders.

Love your Soul Mama
